Hello!

I am Steven and I joined LD North East in January, I have moved here from being a manager in Sainsbury’s. I was asked to write a post about me so here it goes… I live with my partner Rachael, I have a son who is 11 years old and a tortoise called Frank. I love travelling to new places both in the UK and aboard, I enjoy cooking and baking but the best bit is always the eating!

I joined LDNE as I have always been passionate about supporting people. I have a big sister with Downs’ Syndrome and over the years have been inspired by the people who have supported her and my family. Initially I heard about LDNE and loved the sound of the organisation so joined the board as a trustee. During the meetings I learnt more about what everyone done and when the opportunity to work here came up I jumped at the chance. I love how everyone is so passionate and enjoys being here, which is totally different than working in retail!

When I was 16 I volunteered on a play scheme for young people then moved to North Tyneside Carer’s centre as an outreach worker. I then had my son so went full time into retail but have never lost my passion for supporting other people as I picked up the role of a charity co-ordinator. Since coming to LDNE I have met loads of new people and look forward to working with everyone. My role is a ‘Young Person Care Co-ordinator’ I work in the North West of North Tyneside within GP practices to support people aged between 13-18 with any healthcare needs.

Although I seem quiet just say hello and I will be happy to chat!
