Early Years

LD:NorthEast has been providing support to children and families across North Tyneside since 2012. We support children to learn and develop through play, and bring families together. Our groups and activities are designed for children from birth to 5 years who have learning and/or physical disabilities, communication difficulties, complex health needs or life limiting conditions.

We know that families often find it difficult to access mainstream services or opportunities for play and learning. LD:NorthEast is experienced in providing support for parents and carers to help relieve anxieties, and providing activities that encourage children in learn and socialise through play. All of our support is inclusive and tailored to individual needs.

Our current Early Years support and activities include:

  • Sensory play sessions

  • Weekly Stay & Play sessions

  • Support at meetings and liaison with health and care professionals

  • 1:1 home visits

  • Hospital support / visits

  • Support to attend community paediatrician clinics

  • Transition support into mainstream nursery / childcare settings

  • Peer support

“We’re all like one big family – supporting each other, helping where we can, and being able to chat and get advice from other Mums and Dads in the same situation. We love our LD:NorthEast family”

We welcome referrals from parents, carers, social workers and health professionals. For further information please contact our Children & Families Lead Leanne on 0191 2622261 or at leanne.johnson-read@ldne.org.uk
